MCC Motorcycle Ride Through Coachella Valley
Updated: Apr 29
This week marks yet another spectacular scenic motorcycle ride with the Tuesday Motorcycle group departing from the Best RV resort near Palm Springs located in Indio California at the heart of the Coachella Valley, home of the Stagecoach and Coachella Music festivals.
Members of Motorcoach Country Coach in Indio meet each week in the staging area at 9:00 am with kickstands up at 9:30. Before leaving the ride captain reminds every one: “Safety first, ride within your limits, and watch out for each other!” It was an incredible spring morning with plenty of blue sky and sunshine, hard to believe it was December 1st, days before the Winter equinox! Sometimes I just have to pinch myself as I look to the sky in appreciation and feel the warm but gentle sun on my face.
Today the ride captain had planned a six hour 220 mile ride looping through Joshua Tree National Park, the closest National Park to all the motorhome resorts in the Coachella Valley. It is a spectacular and scenic ride with a stop at the viewpoint where we could see the entire desert landscape from the Salton Sea to the snow-capped Mt. Jacinto. Continuing on, we stopped at my favorite roadhouse, the Joshua Tree Saloon, where they had spent quite a bit of time building a remarkable outdoor restaurant with appropriate spacing and a terrific, friendly and safe atmosphere.
Great lunch and some fun times swapping stories, and I am sure a couple of lies. After lunch the nine of us saddled up for the last leg of the ride. Upon returning to our Motorcoach Home in Indio and popping a cold beer I asked myself what the best part of the day? Started with nine and ended with nine. Fantastic lunch with good friends. Or was it a complete loop without returning on the same road we travelled earlier. My answer? All of the above! Looking forward to next Tuesday’s adventure.
